Design
From an aesthetic point of view, the PENTAX Optio A40 differs little from the A30, that the previous model, presenting the same flat body, and without grip, but very manageable. The dimensions are very compact, 91 mm wide, 56.5 mm and 23.5 mm in thickness, weight is 130 grams without battery. The camera has an excellent display TFT 2.5-inch diagonal, a resolution of 232 thousand colors and with a coverage of 100%.
Features and functions
The PENTAX Optio A40 compact digital camera is launched from the manufacturer at the end of 2007 and characterized by high quality photographic functions and very interesting. This is the estate of the Pentax Optio A30, which differs primarily for the resolution of the sensor.
As for the technical specifications this camera has an image sensor 1 / 1, 7 inches in size and with a resolution of 12 megapixels, which you can take pictures of the highest quality, capable of reaching a maximum resolution of 4000×3000 pixels and is not just for a compact digital.
As to the PENTAX Optio A40 has a Pentax which offers a focal length of 7.9 - 23.7 mm and equivalent to 38 - 114 mm in size 35 mm and a maximum of f2.8 - f5.4. Like the previous model, even on this new check a 3x optical zoom, in practice the bare minimum, in contrast, has a 6x digital zoom, therefore, combining the two types of zoom, you can get a magnification of 18x.
Turning now to features available, the first and most interesting is the image stabilizer, very helpful in reducing the effect moved especially when you are shooting moving subjects. This system consists of an SR device that compensates the movement of the machine moving the sensor, the Digital SR, which occurs automatically on the sensitivity according to the brightness of the scene, and Movie SR function, which occurs only in shooting movies.
At the stabilizer PENTAX Optio A40 also combines high sensitivity, up to ISO 3200, allowing then take pictures even in low light conditions, without having to use flash, which would give the picture a little natural color. An innovative feature, though also on the previous model, is facial recognition, which focuses on faces within un’inquadratura, in whatever position they are, allowing you to achieve excellent portraits also less experienced.
Other features include integrated flash, the 18 shooting modes, several manual checks, the adjustment of dynamic range, which helps prevent the burned areas and too dark shadows and finally the FotoNation for correcting red-eye when using the flash. Not missing, then, can record video with a maximum resolution of 640×480 pixels and up to 30 frames per second.
To the rescue, the PENTAX Optio A40 has an internal memory of about 21 MB, expandable via Secure Digital cards and SDHC. It has, finally, USB interface, audio and video. The package includes the lithium battery, charger, a wrist strap, USB cable, the cable audio / video and software programs.
